TONSILS AND OROPHARYNX

Note the color, size, and any surface abnormalities of tonsils and ulcers, tonsilloliths, and inspissated secretion in tonsillar crypts. Palpate the tonsils for discharge or tenderness, and note restriction of the oropharyngeal airway.
Examine the faucial pillars for bilateral symmetry, nodules, red and white patches, lymphoid aggregates, and deformities. Examine the postpharyngeal wall for swellings, nodular lymphoid hyperplasia, hyperplastic adenoids, postnasal discharge, and heavy mucous secretions.
